Innerhalb von bekannten linksradikalen Gruppierungen schon mittlerweile genauso beliebt wie bei dem ein oder anderen verschworenen Marduk-Fan, war der Werdegang dieser Formation ein langsamer, aber dafür umso beständigerer: Seit ihrem ersten (und wahrscheinlich auch einzigen) Demo vor sechs Jahren wurde Jahr für Jahr ein neues, vollwertiges Album rausgehauen, einmal mit Graupel gemeinsame Sache gemacht (Review dazu auf diesen Seiten) - nun steckt das fünfte Album in den Panzerrohren und anfangs sah es ganz danach aus, als ob das beeindruckende "Navigator" einen würdigen Nachfolger bekommt...
Die ersten zwei Offenbarungen nämlich könnten kaum authentischer nach Endstille klingen: Rohes, höhenlastiges Nach-Vorne-Gedresche ohne den winzigsten Hinweis auf Kompromisse, ein wie immer bis ins Mark angepisster Iblis, herrlich schrille Endzeit-Läufe und punktgenaues Dauerbombardement seitens der Schießbude - natürlich ohne Gimmicks und Hilfsmittel versteht sich. Die Songs selbst sind schön übersichtlich gehalten, warten aber selbstverständlich auch mit gezielt eingebauten Überraschungseffekten auf, welche in unerwartet heftigen Breaks, eingefügten Nettigkeiten und dergleichen lauert. Was jetzt nach üblicher Kieler Kost riecht, entpuppt sich als Dauerbrett mit wenigen Augenblicken in schleichenderen Geschwindigkeiten. Gut, ab "Vorwärts!", das größtenteils im Kriechgang wütet, sind manchmal Passagen dabei, die dem Schlagzeuger eine "Pause" von mehr als zehn Sekunden gönnen; ebenso habe ich kein Problem mit dem daraus resultierenden Mangel an wirklicher Variation hinsichtlich Aufbauten sowie Riffs - das selbe Rezept fand ja schließlich im Vorgänger genug Anklang, um ihn zu einem kleinen Überalbum zu machen. Der Knackpunkt liegt darin, dass sich hier viele, vielleicht zu viele Ideen herumtummeln, die zwar nah an einem Kracher dran sind, aber wie heißt es so schön: Knapp daneben ist auch vorbei. Und so knickt die Qualitätskurve nach dem Titelstück ein, bleibt einerseits auf einem akzeptablen, schließt jedoch nie wieder an das anfängliche Niveau an.
Es wäre an der Zeit, das Veröffentlichungs-Tempo ein wenig hinunter zu schrauben, nicht jeden aufkeimenden Furz sofort zu vertonen, das Material mit Abstand zu betrachten und so weiter und so fort. Kurz: Bei Endstille ist momentan der Saft raus - alles schon mal dagewesen, nur hier irgendwie etwas schwächer. Ob es den gerichtlich erzwungenen Wechsel zu Regain Records wirklich wert war, wird sich zeigen. Die Chancen auf ein positives Endresultat stehen allerdings nicht besonders gut.

Ohne nun auch meinerseits den Endstille-Vergötterern in den Arsch treten zu wollen, muss ebenso ich einräumen, dass man mit der "Alles-bleibt-beim-Alten-Nummer" nun doch nicht alles erreichen kann. Vor allem wenn sich das kompositorische Kollektiv von 2007 exakt nach den Vorjahren anhört. Mich kann man damit nicht mehr beeindrucken. (6/10)

 

Review: English Version

Within well known left-winged radical groupings by now as favoured as to some sworn fans of Marduk, the development of this horde was a slow, but thus much more consistent one: Since their first (and probably last) demo six years ago, a new full-lengther sees its release in yearly periods, they once made common cause with Graupel (review for this on these pages) - and now, the fifth album is ready to be fired and at the beginning, it seemed that the impressive "Navigator" got its worthy successor...
The first two revelations namely couldn't sound much more authentic: Raw, high-pitched and forward-pushing threshing without the slightest incident of a compromise, a (as usual) pissed-off Iblis, exquisitely shrill end-time-riffs and precisely continuous barrage on the part of the drums - naturally wihtout any gimmicks or supporting tools. The songs by theirselves were composed in a nice and clearly arranged way but self-evidently also come up with specifically placed surprising moments which lurk in unexpectedly heavy breaks, inserted beauties and stuff like that. What now smells like your usual fare from Kiel, emerges as a persistent full throttle affair with few slower moments. Okay, from "Vorwärts!" on (which for itself rages at crawling speed), there are parts where the drummer is granted "pauses" of more than ten seconds; similarly to that, I have no problem with the hence resulting lack of real variation regarding composition and riffs - after all, the same recipe found sufficient favour in the former record to make a little gem out of it. The crux of the matter lies in the fact that way too much ideas are present here which surely are close to being killer but, as the saying goes, a miss is as good as a mile. And thus, the quality loses its height right after the title track, of course stays on a acceptable but never comes back to the initial level.
It would be about time to slow down the releasing tempo, to avoid recording every sprouting fart immediately after its birth, to look at the material without too much emotion and so on and so forth. To make it short: At the moment, Endstille's run out of fire - everything on here already appeared in the past, but somehow a bit weaker here. Only time can tell if it was worth the judiciarily forced switch to Regain Records. But the chances on a positive end result don't look very promising.

Without also kicking the ass of all Endstille-worshippers for my part, I have to concede, that the "Everything-will-remain-unaffected-principle" isn't the unreachable recipe of wonders. First of all, if the compositoric collective of 2007 sounds exactly like those in the former years. You can't impress me with this anymore. (6/10)
